My life day to day

Kale Chips

In an effort to be more healthy, Glen and I tried our hand at making kale chips. First we went to the store and bought some kale…and were quite surprised at how expensive this hearty leafy green is.

Glen cut the stem off and chopped the kale into about 1 inch pieces and put it in a bowl with some olive oil.

Then we laid it out on a cookie sheet and seasoned it with some salt and chipotle chili pepper.  However, after I tasted our first batch, (so spicy), the other half was seasoned with salt and smoked paprika.  We baked it at 275 degrees for 20 minutes.

Glen and I both thought these were very tasty and will be making them again.

Unexpected Visitors

I was pleasantly surprised with some unexpected company yesterday.  Nice group of hens just passing through.

Met Some of my Neighbors (Naybors)

Bad play on words, I know…Anyway, yesterday I went down to the road to get the trash bin before I left for work and got to see some of my neighbors horses. They are gorgeous!  Next time I will have to take the camera with me instead of my cell phone.  In the meantime, here is the pic I took with my cell.

Quality Time

I had to work the evening shift on Halloween.  When I got home and settled in to check the internet to see what all I had missed….while catching up on the show Faceoff…..Lilly needed some much needed lap time.

She made it difficult to type anything….but we had some good quality time.

Sharing the Dog Kennel

I washed one of the Petey’s blankets and placed it on top of his kennel.  I put it there, because I really didn’t know what to do with it, and didn’t want it just laying randomly on the floor for the hound.  Lilly, being the typical cat, thought the freshly washed blanket was put there just for her.

Lilly versus the ficus tree

Image

Lilly:  Hmmm, how do I best get the leaves off of this ficus tree that was conveniently brought in just for my enjoyment?

Image

Lilly:  I can’t wait all day for the leaves to just fall off.  I guess the best way is to actually get my paws dirty and shake them off.
