Lucy is such a smart girl. She now goes and gets in her kennel when she sees me getting ready for work. I no longer have to bribe her to get in…..or maybe Petey, who already did this, rubbed off on her.

Spooning
Part of our weekend was gray, chilly and rainy. These weather conditions make Petey and Lucy lazy slugs.
Lila’s blood test results
My bird vet (Dr Julie Burge) called me with Lila’s blood test results. Naturally I was at work so I got all this from voicemail. The vet was very happy with her white blood count. Normal is between 6,000 and 11,000. Lila’s is at 9,000…. Yay!! *\o/* However, the vet said her heterofils were slightly elevated. Huh? Hello Google, what the heck is a heterofil??? I read a few things and I still have no clue. The voicemail continued with her saying it was probably just her fighting some minor infection and we shouldn’t worry about it since her white blood count was so good, since 6 months ago it was up to 45,000.
Lila: Next vet visit I only want my talons trimmed and maybe a little taken off my wings. No more needles.
Eva Laid An Egg
Glen and I have had to tolerate Eva, our Umbrella Cockatoo, who has been more than a little amorous for the last month or so. And when I say she has been amorous…..I mean she has been a total pervert. Well, yesterday we found an unexpected surprise in Eva’s cage.
This was the first time she had laid an egg. Thankfully she acted like nothing out of the ordinary had occurred so we were able to take the broken egg out of her cage without any issues. I am hoping she won’t lay any more for quite a while.
Rescheduled Match up
I posted a while back that I was taking Lila to the vet. Well, it snowed so I decided not to drive all the way to Grandview in the snow with a sick bird. Yesterday was the rescheduled match up of Lila vs the vet.
Lila: I have been here before, and I know this is not going to be a good time.
This is something I am totally willing to pay someone to do for me. Lila is such a vicious biter that it takes true professionals to clip her talons. She also had some blood drawn because she is a sickly girl. She tested positive for avian bornavirus last vet visit, but the vet thinks it may be a false positive. However, that being said…..we have no idea why Lila is sick. I will let you all know what the results are when I get them.
Who Trained Who?
Both Petey and Lucy love whipped cream. It’s like when a cat hears a can opener. When they hear Glen putting whipped cream in his coffee, they come a-runnin.
It’s Becoming A Habit
Every day when I sit down in the recliner to get caught up on my internet surfing, Lilly snuggles up next to me, plants her face into the arm of the recliner and takes a nap.
