My life day to day

What a Mess

I moved in with Glen over the weekend.  I hate moving.  I hate packing and I hate the resulting chaos until everything is unpacked, cleaned and put away.

Lilly:  I don’t even know where to begin with all these boxes.

Happy Friday!

Eva:  But I don’t want to go night night.  I want to stay up and be loud and act all crazy.

An Intimidating Room

I find the gym to be a very intimidating place.  I want/need to exercise more andI have no issue doing cardio such as the treadmill or the eliptical machine.  However, using the weight machines or the free weights,  I just struggle.  I know everyone there, is there for the same reasons….so why am I so intimidated?  I know a lot of women feel the same as I do….do men feel this way?

Image

I know in this picture there is no one there…..but I had to keep using the eliptical machine waiting for two muscle heads who were flexing and admiring themselves in the mirror to leave so I could use the weights.

Curb Appeal

The city, at the request of a neighbor of mine, tore out the curb starting at my driveway going halfway down the street.  This is due to the fact that my neighbors house sits down the hill from my house and when it rains the water runs from my driveway down to their house and floods it.  It will be interesting to see if 1) the ya-who’s who put the curb in knew what they were doing….and 2) if since they built up a lip on the curb how much water, mud and debris is going to collect in my driveway now.

Here they are pouring the concrete….sorry the picture isn’t very good, I took the pictures through my living room window.  I didn’t want to be completely blatant by taking them from the driveway.

And here he is smoothing it out….not sure I like it.

It’s a Confusing Time

Since it has cooled down so nicely and it is actually starting to feel like fall, a few of the trees have decided it would be a good time to bloom again.  They are clearly confused.  This is one of the trees at Glens house.  It sure if pretty.

Ren Fest – Final Installment

There weren’t just interesting people at the Renaissance Festival….there were interesting dogs there too. We saw this dog when we were on our way to watch the jousting match, it was painted up like a tiger.  Obviously MU fans.

Image

We made it to the jousting arena and got settled in to watch…..the horses they rode were huge….and the fighting, well it was supposed to be fierce.

Image

The MC for the match was extravagantly dressed.  I loved his coat!

Image

Petey really wasn’t all the impressed with the jousting.  He was starting to get pretty tuckered out by this time and didn’t even mind that Kate put her hat on him.

Image

And last, but certainly not least, we came across this finely dressed gentleman as we were preparing to leave.  Isn’t his costume awesome!?

Renaissance Festival Part 2

As I said yesterday, it was my first time going to the Renaissance Festival, and that the sights were very interesting.  The first show Glen and I saw was this young man.

Image

As you can see he juggled things, including fire, while balanced on various round objects.  He also was a fire eater…

Image

If you take a good hard look at his arms they are covered with scars.  He had patterns of scarification on both arms……

Next up was this gentleman.  He was very friendly, as in after I took his picture he had to come over to check it out while putting his arm around me.  Kind of creepy.

Image

The royal parade was a jolly good show.  Here is a nice shot of the king and queen (in blue and red).

Image

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s installment which will include jousting.

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival….Part 1

Yesterday Glen, Petey and I went to the Renaissance Festival.  I had never been so it was quite an eye opener….and it was a lot of fun.

Image

We met up with some friends who love, love, love the Ren Fest.  This is Rob and Kate…..don’t they look awesome!?

Image

It was the Romance, Chocolate and Wine weekend at the Ren Fest.  Yesterday, they had several couples get married….as in a group wedding.  I thought this young woman’s dress was particularly pretty.

Image

We had a great time yesterday, and I took several pictures.  So stay tuned for more tomorrow.
