After being away for a week in Jefferson City I am happy to be back and posting. The weekend was spent making up for lost sleep. Man I missed my bed! Glen always gets up before I do and shot these pictures. Some robins were having a grand time in the bird bath….at least until Lilla screamed and scared them all off.
I was up late watching “Shaun of the Dead” the other night when Lilly started twittering. She does that when she sees something she wants to chase and kill, like a moth or a bird. I looked at the window to see what she was looking at, and lo and behold, there was a cute little tree frog. It has a good gig going on eating the bugs that our living room light attracts.
Glen informed me that we had things growing in our garden already. So I grabbed the camera and trekked out to the garden. We have a village of fungus.
I am amazed this little toad didn’t get squished by Lucy when she came thundering up to the front door to be let back in the house.
This summer has been unusual. Unusual in that we have not had any days over 100 degrees and we have had rain in late July into August. Not that I am complaining, it is just that this time of year it is usually very hot and dry. With all the recent rains, it has been very muggy though. Perfect conditions for fungus. Glen took these pictures the other day. It was a good thing he did, because they were gone by late afternoon when I got home from work. They are so delicate looking, I am amazed that they are able to support themselves. I also love, love, love the droplets of water on the blades of grass.
I got these shots the other day. I have no idea what kind of bird this is. Is it a type of sparrow?
Like Mother Teresa, only better.
