Knob Noster State Park

Last Friday Glen and I had one of our rare days off together.  After eating a wonderful lunch at a cafe in Warrensburg, (Cafe Blackadder), we decided to head over to Knob Noster State Park to walk off our sandwiches.  It was a beautiful day to be out walking trails in the woods.

This is Lake Buteo.  We were hoping the trees would have more color, but it is still a bit early.

Some places were a bit muddy, and as you can see I clearly was not watching where I was walking.  Glen said I was extremely talented to manage to splash all the mud on the interior of my pant leg without getting it all over my leg.

Clouds

Lucy and I were out for our daily walk on Saturday.  The clouds were very impressive.

My New Personal Trainer

I am trying to get back into the habit of walking daily.  I even bought myself a fitbit for motivation.  However, Lucy is the ultimate motivator.  She loves to go go go!

Butterfly

I have no idea what kind of butterfly this is.  I came across it last week on a hike during one of our warmer days.

Forsythia

It is finally starting to look like spring.  I went for a hike on a trail yesterday and saw a bunch of forsythia growing wild.  I hadn’t realized it had bloomed yet.

Washed Out

Glen went out hiking with a friend and took some pictures of an unfortunate tree facing adversity.  It was rooted into the dike of a pond, and as you can see, the pond washed out under the tree.

Yellostone’s Geyser Basin

Yesterday was our first full day to take in Yellowstone National Park.  We saw a lot of very cool stuff and took about 550 pictures between the two of us.  We decided to take in the geyser basins.  In all, we probably hiked 10-11 miles.

A Note From Abroad

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sailaway from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
