Hoerman's House

My life day to day

Things noticed….

Even though I am suffering from a very bad bout of allergies, I had to mow my yard today.  It was a true test of my new allergy medicine.  All went well, and I actually noticed a few things that were happening in my yard.  The first and most obvious thing that is happening is pears.  I have a pear tree in my back yard, and this year it is really out doing itself.  All the branches are starting to sag with the growing fruit.  They are pretty on the tree but will become the bane to my existence once they start dropping.  I have tried to do things with them, like eat them, but they go from rock hard to rotten with nothing good in between.

The second thing I noticed was the tiger lilies.  I have a few, (very few), that try to grow in the shadiest part of the yard.  This year two have managed to bloom.  I should go over to my mothers and get some of hers.  She has a ton of them.

Lastly, my little geranium is blooming.  It is the first bloom this season.  I have had this plant for about 4 years now.  My mother doesn’t understand why I don’t let it die in the fall and just get a new one in the spring.  I tell her that this geranium and I have a history….I can’t just let it die.

A Note From Abroad

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sailaway from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
