Icicle Gorge Trail

Ok, so we are back to the vacation pictures.  Glen and I decided to hike an easier trail, so we decided on the Icicle Gorge Trail.  It is rated at a whopping 2 out of 5 on difficulty.

As you can see the tail was so much smoother and easier to hike.

The layers in the rock were simply amazing.

Since the hiking was nice and easy we could enjoy the views.

Glen decided to check and see how cold the water was.  He said it was cold but felt really good.  I am anti-cold water, so I did not soak my feet.

Again, fantastic views.

Tom Jones

I am going to interrupt my vacation pictures because last night I went and saw Tom Jones in concert.  Make fun if you will, but I love me some Tom Jones!  He was absolutely incredible.   The other thing that was so incredible were our seats.  We sat in the second row back from the stage.  Never in my concert going life have I ever been so close to the stage.  At 76 years of age, he still looks damn good!!

Stuart Lake

After hiking to Surprise Lake, and the excess physical exertion that it took, we decided to hike a trail that was only rated 3 out of 5 in difficulty.  So, Stuart Lake it was.  On the plus side, Stuart Lake is one of Washington state’s most beautiful lakes.

dsc03876-2

Right away it was a much easier trail to hike.  It was still rocky, but much easier to navigate.

dsc03892-2

The views were also amazing making hiking long miles so worth the effort.

Glen and I both decided we could live out the rest of our lives with this view.  Now just to win the lottery :o)

dsc03914-2

Stuart Lake did not disappoint.  It was absolutely beautiful.  This was our lunch spot.

No trip is complete without a selfie.  Nice backdrop with Stuart Lake.

Surprise Lake

dsc03836-2

Our day started out gloriously enough with a beautiful sunrise.  We had decided to hike up to Surprise Lake which was rated a 4 out of 5 in difficulty.  This day would prove to us that we may be getting too old for such shenanigans.

dsc03845-2

The hike started out not so pretty with the power lines.  This was the easiest part of the hike.

Up, up and up.

dsc03850-2

Saw some awesome fungus along the way.

And we saw some ominous looking fungus.

dsc03872-2

We hiked on an itty bitty part of the famous Pacific Crest Trail.

dsc03864-2

This is the part of the trail where it really ceased being fun for me.  It wasn’t just rocky.  We had to clamor up large boulders, and naturally I fell.

dsc03869-2

I had an elbow that matched my knee.  It doesn’t look too bad and at the time I was mostly mad because I tore my pants.  Good thing I married a man that is always prepared.  We had a first aid kit in our camelbak.

This was what we hiked to see, Surprise Lake.  Not sure it was worth all the effort, blood and sweat that it took to get here.  By the time we got there I had exerted myself to the point that I seriously thought I was going to vomit.  For me, going back down the mountain was an easier enterprise.

vacation

I have been away from my blog for a while.  No excuses except I didn’t feel like blogging.  Being an introvert, hiding was what I wanted to do.  However, my wonderful husband and I went on vacation a couple of weeks ago to the state of Washington and stayed in the wonderful town of Leavenworth.

dsc03833-2

We had a fantastic view from our condo.

Our vacation wouldn’t be complete without a squirrel sighting 🙂  The squirrels out there are so tiny compared to what we have in Missouri.  Ours are like Godzilla in comparison.

All Riled Up

I let the dogs outside after a long day cooped up on the house due to the heat.  It only took them a couple of minutes to get into mischief.  They were barking like crazy so I went out to see what all the fuss was about.

Thankfully it was just a good sized black snake and not a copperhead.
