Relaxing…..at least trying to

Lucy and Glen relaxing and watching some tv.

Lucy makes it kind of hard to do the relaxing part…

Happy Monday!

Favorite Toy

Petey almost always takes a nap with his favorite toy.

Captive Audience

DSC02592-2

How she knew, I have no idea, but she ran across the house like her tail was on fire and perched on the back of the sofa.  She sat, ever watchful.

DSC02595-2

This is what held her attention captive.  A five lined skink.

This skink had more problems that being stalked by a cat.  It appeared to have had a run in with a big spider web.

Crossing Guard

20140701_201302-2

When Lucy and I are out on our walks we often encounter critters in the roadway.  A couple of nights ago we came across this frog.  At first I thought it was dead.  Thankfully, that was not the case.  I quickly snapped his picture and then escorted him off the road.

Not happy to see us

Image

I’m not sure if this is the same kitty that Lucy chased through the neighbors pasture about a month ago, but as you can see she was very very leery of us as we were walking by.

Bitten

Image

Lucy got too close to this snapping turtle when it lunged at her and bit/grazed her nose.  It wasn’t bad….just broke the skin and bled a little bit.  Hopefully she will think twice before going in to sniff a turtle in the future.

Rural Living

Image

As I was driving home from the grocery store, this little fox crawled out of a culvert and was trotting around looking for scraps to eat.  It was extremely skinny and its face was scabby, probably from fleas.  I was shocked to see it in the middle of town in the middle of the afternoon.

The Long Meow

Image

She really only meows at us when the water bowl is empty or she thinks her food bowl is empty.  Her meows are always long and as pathetic sounding as she can muster.

Now that’s a tasty toy

Image

Glen:  Lila, try the watermelon….it’s quite tasty.

Image

Lila:  Are you trying to trick me?

Image

Nom nom nom!

Lila actually ate very little of the watermelon.  She mostly treated it like a toy and destroyed it.

A Note From Abroad

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sailaway from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
