We all enjoy naps

The favorite pastime in this house is taking naps.  Nothing like snuggling up in a nice warm blanket and taking a snooze.

An Effective Possum Catcher

Our dog Lucy has been a busy girl keeping our yard safe from possums.

Image

Lucy: I did it and am feeling slightly guilty.

Image

Petey:  I think its squeaker is broken.

Image

Never fear, this little fella was just playing dead.  Notice this possum has a lot of wet fur.  Lucy is not only good at catching them, she is full service and gives them a bath too.

Possum:  I am so out of here!

Frisky

We had a cold front move into our area and the temperatures have really made it feel like fall is finally here.  It also makes the dogs more active and playful.

Grazing

Our dogs like to eat grass, especially Petey.

Traumatizing a Possum

Our dog, Lucy, loves to be outside in the evenings now that the temperature has started cooling down.  Sunday evening it got to be time to go to bed so I went to let her in.  She was laying on the front porch but was reluctant to come to me.  I didn’t think anything about it.  Finally, after calling her a couple of times she got up and ran inside.  To my horror, there was a very small possum laying next to where Lucy had been.  When I say small possum, I mean it had to be this years model and booted from momma’s pouch not too long ago.  I stood there watching it when it started to stir.  Silly thing had been playing dead.  I was very worried it had been damaged by Lucy so Glen and I went out and it immediately played dead again.  We inspected it as best we could and didn’t see any blood so we decided to let it be and see if it would leave or stay on the porch.  Luckily, as soon as the porch light went out the little fella took off at a fast pace.  We have no idea if Lucy was playing with it or if she was babying it because the poor thing was very wet with her slobber…..so rough housing or giving it a bath?  Thank you God for her not finding a skunk!

I know it looks like the little guy is bleeding in the picture, but I assure you, it is slobber.

Getting Cloudy

Yesterday evening a weather front moved in bringing thunderstorms in it’s path.  No sleep with our fraidy dog Petey.

Love Sponge

All of our pets were very glad when we got back from vacation.  They all demanded equal love time.

Who Doesn’t Love a Nice Warm Bath?

Not only are Glen and I getting ready to get hitched this weekend, we are also getting ready for our vacation/honeymoon.  Part of that preparation is making the dogs into presentable critters for the kind friends that will be keeping them for us while we are gone.  I don’t know why Petey and Lucy dislike baths so much….they are in nice warm water and getting a full body massage.  What’s not to like?

Petey just looked like we were shaming him the entire time.  He was a good boy about it though.

Image

Lucy: If I don’t make eye contact with them maybe I won’t be forced to take a bath.

Image

Lucy: How can this be happening to me?

Image

Lucy: How can you sit there taking my picture when I am being tortured?

Image

Lucy:  You will pay dearly for this….

Image

This last picture was when Lucy bolted from the bathtub in her desperate escape attempt.  She was mostly successful, but ended up back in the tub for her rinse cycle.  No more pictures were taken because she got water and soap all over my camera lens and I had a minor internal meltdown.
