Trying a New Ferment

I have always liked sauerkraut and other yummy ferments such as kimchi. It has been a while since I had made my own, so I busted out my handy ferment book.

I wanted to try something new, so I decided to make asparagus pickles, (page 57).

I let this sit for about 7 days and then opened it up to give it a taste. Let me just say the smell was absolutely the worst! My husband was the hero of this story, as he is the one who tasted it. The look on his face told me everything I needed to know 🤣 We will not be attempting this ferment again. I mean, what a terrible thing to do to asparagus.

I made sauerkraut as well. It is mirepoix kraut, (page 95).

I have made this one before and it is very delicious.

Do you like fermented foods? Do you have or know of a book with recipes that you couldn’t do without?
