Last night Glen and I went to a concert at Starlight Theater. We saw three bands, The Tower of Power, The Steve Miller Band and Journey. I had never heard of The Tower of Power, they were good. The rest of the concert was awesome. I love Steve Miller and Glen loves Journey.
Pre-concert obligatory selfie.

Journey
Journey…..It was difficult to get a good picture of Journey because of all their lights.
Since Glen and I decided to put in a garden this year, I made the leap and bought a pressure canner.
Last Monday evening my mom called me and said that my step-dad brought home a big box of green beans and wanted to know if I would can them for her. Of course I said I would. Tuesday evening came around and I found myself in my kitchen first looking at this very intimidating pan and then at the instructions on how to use it since I had never canned anything before.
As you can see, everything went as it should…..and I didn’t blow up my kitchen 🙂
I’ll admit, when I first think of elderberries I think of the song by Elton John. However, my second thought is wondering what elderberry wine tastes like. Have you ever drank elderberry wine?
My step-dad bought a LOT of zucchini at an auction the other day. So, we had to come up with some interesting ways of dealing with the sudden influx. I bought the book, Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving, and it has a recipe for gingered zucchini marmalade. Having never made marmalade, I thought to myself…..I can do this! The recipe was very easy to follow, and it turned out perfect.
We have encountered this large furry beast on our walks before and he was always very skittish. This last weekend that all changed. He finally let us get close and we were able to pet him. He was so happy to see us that we were showered with slobbery kisses and an invitation to rub his belly. This makes our walks even sweeter in anticipation of seeing our newest friend.
When Lucy and I are out on our walks we often encounter critters in the roadway. A couple of nights ago we came across this frog. At first I thought it was dead. Thankfully, that was not the case. I quickly snapped his picture and then escorted him off the road.
