Woody Woodpecker
Glen got a great picture of a pileated woodpecker while he was out sitting in his deerstand. They are a fantastic looking bird. Interesting tidbit, the cartoon character Woody Woodpecker was modeled after the pileated woodpecker.

This post’s title suggests that it may have something to do with the movie Shaun of the Dead…..but it doesn’t. Just a pretty cardinal sitting in an evergreen tree.
Big Eater
Whenever we eat any fruit or vegetables we always give some to the birds. Eva could care less about most of it, but Lila is like a garbage disposal.

Lonesome Dove
There were actually more doves hanging out in the field, but as soon as I brought the camera up to take the picture, they all took off. This guy was left behind.
All gone
Two days ago when I went out to check on the babies in the garden, there was only one left. Sorry the picture is blurry, but it is so very humid out and I had a really hard time keeping the lens from fogging up.
Yesterday we went out to the garden and all the babies were gone. Very sad 😦
Not Two….There Are Three
The baby birds that are nesting in one of my tomato plants are growing very fast. I was wrong, I thought there were just two in the nest, but there are three. Sure hope that the one on the edge doesn’t fall out.
