Morel Hunting

My good friend Vickie came over this last Saturday and we ended up hunting for morel mushrooms.  It was a glorious sunny, warm day, perfect for ‘shroom hunting.  The only drawback to hunting for morels is you have to crawl through the woods to find them.  Since it has warmed up so nicely the ticks were out in full force.  I ended up with about 10 ticks on me.

This is Vickie and one of the first mushrooms that was found.

The morels were growing really big and looking oh, so delicious.

See what I mean by big?

Vickie got a nice haul of mushrooms.

Colors of Sunset

We have had a lot of rain/thunderstorms this last week.  Besides beneficial rain, they have provided some fantastic sunsets.

Hunting for Morels

We didn’t find a lot of them, but we found enough to thoroughly enjoy a good mess of fried morels.

Severe Storms

Yesterday was a day full of severe thunderstorms.  The weathermen had a heyday.  Glen took some pictures of the hail we got while I was at work.  It was about quarter size hail.

Crooked

It was a nice warm afternoon and Petey was feeling kind of sleepy.

Image

He had a hard time stifling a yawn.  It wasn’t until after I took the picture that I realized his tongue was crooked.

The fence

We are getting ready to put our plants out in our garden.  Since we live out in the country, we need to protect our precious veggies from critters.  So, we bought a nice electric fence.

Blossoms

The crabapple tree in our front yard finally bloomed.

Getting Ready

Getting ready to plant our garden.  Hopefully we will be able to put out our plants out the next week or so.

Butterfly

I have no idea what kind of butterfly this is.  I came across it last week on a hike during one of our warmer days.

Lunar Eclipse

Glen and I stayed up Monday night so that we could watch the lunar eclipse.  It was kind of cloudy and we were afraid we weren’t going to get to see any of it.  Thankfully, the clouds parted and we got several good shots.

This last picture was difficult to get since there was very little light for the camera to capture.

A Note From Abroad
